I don’t know why Mr. Crook is in there. It doesn’t really add anything to the story to have him there. Great Dr. Rocket moment though. I had a lot of fun drawing that tongue and making it as yucky as possible.

The obvious signified of a flashback is to do the art in black and white. That gray shading I add in there is an effect I wish I had time to do on all the SuperFogeys strips. Plans are for that effect to be added to the strips for the trade collections. Once that happens, [...]

Obviously, something big went down in that other dimension. For the whole story, check out the backup tale “Captain Spectacular and Star Maiden in the Inevitable Dimension” in the second SuperFogeys book. It’s drawn by Julio Molina-Muscara, artist on “Omega Chase.” I wanted a “no bad guy” break-up here. I think you get where everyone [...]

Had a blast with the first panel. I love drawing Mr. Crook, design courtesy of Eskimo Dave creator Mike Hartigan. I wish he wasn’t dead. Check back to Episode 10 of Chapter 1 for a part of Mr. Crook’s story. Mustache on Captain Spectacular doesn’t look too bad. A little more insight on the Jerry/Swifty [...]

MR. CROOK Mr. Crook is one of those guys that gets mentioned from time to time, but that you don’t really know much about. In fact, unless I’m completely wrong, I do believe this is the first time he’s ever spoken a word. It was fun to finally have him do that. His time as [...]

NEW TALL TALE RADIO INTERVIEW! To celebrate SuperFogeys 200 and a few other things, Tom Racine interviewed me last week and we had a blast. I think this is a good one. I was very careful about inappropriate laughter and even reduced my number of “ums” per minute by 75%! Heck yeah! Tom puts it [...]

SOVIET SAM and T.L. COLLINS Welcome back, T.L. Collins! More than any other artist, T.L. defines what a SuperFogeys Origin should look like. We haven’t seen him grace these “pages” since 2009, but he comes back in a big way with this 8-page Soviet Sam story. Sam is a character we’ve only glimpsed briefly in the [...]

STEVE OGDEN GOES THE EXTRA MILE I don’t think there’s a single page of this little story that was more labored over than this one. Steve made the decision to add a page to the original 5-page story and it really helps things tremendously. The exact look and pace and number of panels on this [...]
