I absolutely love this strip. This is a case of art elevating the script. On paper, this one didn’t seem like it would be much. If anything, I felt like I was trying to do too much. However…I think it works. Bingo Knight was a character name given to me by a reader of my [...]

Bingo Knight’s design came from the idea that he is essentially a super accountant. I mean, a super hero who settles Bingo scores? How could he be anything BUT an accountant? Once I knew that, all I had to do was put a dorky guy in a Knight costume and the idea sold itself.

I don’t know how much this strip actually adds to the plot, but it makes me laugh and sometimes that’s enough. A genuinely well-drawn Spy Gal in this strip, I think. She’s a tough one to draw just right and I always have a hard time with her hair.

I tried and tried to not make this one a double-sized. I had just done one and I didn’t want to take the time to do another one, but there just wasn’t any other way to make it work. Too many characters all interacting with each other. It has been said that this is one [...]

Full disclosure: I’m not a gambler. In fact, it’s very much against my personal, religious beliefs to gamble. Still, the idea popped into my head for these characters and I had to do it. Besides, I know the Fogeys are going to Vegas one day. Guess who they’re gonna find there?

MOTHER OF AN EPISODE So little dialogue…so much drawing…and I don’t like any of it. I’ve gotten slammed in the past for being too critical of my work. Whenever I get into that mode, people usually do one of two things: either 1) defend my work against me and my wonderful insecurities or 2) tell [...]

MARJORIE RESHEL BREAKS IT ALL DOWN IN HILARIOUS FASHION! Only a true blue SuperFogeys fan could have crafted this. This is a knowing, detailed, mythology and character-rich guest strip that had me laughing out loud for quite a while. Marj is a semi-regular commenter in these parts, but she’s clearly ALWAYS paying attention. She’s a [...]

MARC TOPS HIMSELF AGAIN I don’t know if it’s noticeable to any of you, but for me, as soon as I saw the art for this strip, I realized Marc had made another leap forward in his art on SF. This isn’t a flashy strip, so it’s as subtle difference. But it’s there. I hope [...]

INDEPENDENCE DAY! To my American friends, happy 4th of July, everybody! I’m always so grateful to be living in this country and for the freedoms we have here. I probably take how fortunate and blessed I am for granted too often, so I’m grateful for days like this when I can think back to all [...]

I think the thing I love most about Bingo Knight’s shows is their intimate feel. No matter how large the crowd or how famous he gets, it always feels like he’s talking directly to me. UPDATE! I neglected to mention that not only is this the 350th SF strip (WOW), but this is Marc Lapierre’s [...]

Big thanks to Marc for the Division Sword. I had that panel as silent and swordless, but Marc snuck the sword in earlier in the chapter (unbeknownst to me) and brought it back here to great effect. He even created an elaborate back story for The Sacred Steel of the Ancient Warrior Accountants and it’s [...]

Holy snot, I never would have guessed Marc would outdo his art in the previous strip so soon. This sucker rocks! Been lots of fantastic comments from you guys lately. You psychoanalyze these characters in a way few other readerships do. You make this worth doing. I see lots more conversation on the horizon as [...]

Soviet Sam makes me happy. He’s a character I’ve barely drawn myself, but I love how easily he fits into the main story and how much his presence adds to the proceedings. Nice seeing a bunch of the characters in the same strip again. Marc always handles these crowd scenes so well. Don’t forget to [...]
