Pg. 6 “Who Could Have Done This?”

One of the things I love about working with a team is seeing what each individual brings to the table. Denver always paces out my scripts in a way I don’t expect and frames things in a way that lends maximum impact. Jeff then brings it to another level with his colors. I had no idea how he was going to color the first panel, but his solution is simple and elegant. He really thinks about the mood of the image and colors accordingly. Great work, guys!

ANNOUNCING: SOMETHING REALLY SPECIAL TOMORROW. My good friend and great podcaster Tom Racine is currently raising funds for new equipment through IndieGoGo. He’s got some great rewards, so check that out. Tomorrow, he’s doing a all-day video podcast marathon in honor of his efforts and both Marc and I are scheduled to be guests! And with that the two week hiatus officially begins. You should see some guest strips here and there, but both SuperFogeys and SuperFogeys Origins won’t be back until October 1st. Chapter 14 – Invasion, Part Two: Inaction Heroes No More starts then!

    i don’t think they’d be quite that surprised if it were a baby dr. rocket…since they are all babies themselves that wouldn’t present enough shock factor…NOW if it were a baby money man…THAT would be a HUGE twist!!!

Marc is heading to NYCC and wants to draw for YOU!

Greetings, Fellow Fogey Fanatics! It’s your friendly neighborhood SuperFogeys artist, Marc here with a little announcement. Next month I will be attending the New York Comic Con at the Javits Center in the Big Apple from October 12 – 14. While I’m there you can find me in Artist Alley sharing a table with the lovely and talented Irma Eriksson of the comic Imy. Table C5 to be exact.

Now, food and lodging in New York is not cheap AT ALL. So, what I’d like to do is open up my convention commission sketches early to you, the SuperFogeys readers in an effort to get a jump on covering those expenses and giving you a chance to get a piece of original art from me. For $25 I will do an 8 1/2″ x 11″ full color sketch of any character of your choosing (Fogey or otherwise) and mail it to you as soon as possible at no extra shipping charge (as long as you’re in the USA). To order a sketch send me an email to marc (at) spookydoofus dot com. Be sure to use the phrase “SuperFogeys Commission Sketch” in the subject of your email so I can easily keep track of orders as they come in. Payment is accepted though PayPal.

If there are any of you thinking about ordering a sketch are also planning to attend NYCC, stop by my table to pick up your sketch in person and I’ll knock $5 off the price. Just let me know in your order email if you’ll be at the show.

SNEAK PEEK: Spy Gal’s New Look!

Hey all. Even though the SuperFogeys are taking a little break, Marc and I are still hard at work. And we’re using the extra time wisely–Marc has designed a bunch of new characters and even some new looks for old ones!

This is the Spy Gal you’ll see in Chapter 15 – Invasion, Part Two: Inaction Heroes No More! You’ll notice her look is a little more militaristic, which fits her expanded and changing role at Valhalla perfectly.

Might there be some more sneak peeks coming? Possibly…

Also, an update on next week’s schedule: Be sure and stop by every day next week, Monday-Friday, for a mini-guest strip extravaganza. SuperFogeys returns officially on Monday, October 1st.

SNEAK PEEK: Raptor X!

Valhalla is a big place and there’s only so much room from week-to-week to show you all its denizens. But, sometimes, the right story comes along and we get to see some of the characters who make up the fringe. You already saw a hint of Raptor X in SF 444, but in Chapter 15 we’ll get to see a little more of him. Marc is one of the very best character designers out there and his design for a YOUNG Raptor X must be seen:

Raptor X is a former marine who, after being accidentally transported back in time to prehistory when a military experiment went wrong, was exposed to “Evolutionary Mists” that mixed his DNA with that of the Dinosaurs! You’ll see more of his older incarnation soon.

SNEAK PEEK: The Crimson Spelunker!

Here we go again! Another look at a new Fogey you’ll be seeing more of in the upcoming Chapter 15 (starts October 1st!), The Crimson Spelunker! Once again, Marc is showing off a YOUNGER version of the character first. You’ll meet the older incarnation soon enough (though you if you look closely at SF 444, you’ll see him there).

The Crimson Spelunker was a villain who, along with his army of mutant bats, traveled the earth beneath, emerging only to stage shocking robberies by creating his own entrance–gaping holes in the middle of the vaults! His rivalry with Mr. Crook (Crook was always jealous of the Spelunker’s ability to escape capture by simply tunneling down to China) is almost as well known as his 30-year feud with his arch nemesis–Swifty.
