Weather happens. And sometimes it knocks out Marc Lapierre’s power and he has no way to create the strip, much less post it. Apologies! Marc is one of the more dedicated artists I’ve ever worked with and believe you me–the strip would be done if it were possible. In fact, even the midst of this power outage, Marc did manage to ink the TRIPLE-SIZED strip that was supposed to run today, but alas his laptop ran out of battery and he could not color it. SF 360 is such a big moment than I want you to see it only its completed form so please bear with us.
Still… a special treat for you today. The above page ran in the back of Th3rd World’s Free Comic Book Day offering a couple of years ago, but I never had a chance to post it until now. That’s how strict a schedule we keep around here! Hope you enjoy it.
And yes, this is a solo effort on my part. Don’t judge me too harshly. I’m not as good an artist as Marc.
I always take time to enjoy the brilliance of a Heasley/Lapierre construct – and can hardly wait until #360 – but, sometimes classics are danged fun, too!
Well, thank goodness. Marc and I both feel real bad about the delay… but it couldn’t be helped.
I’m truly glad to see this strip – although finally pointing out and verbally stating the obvious joke about Swifty, the fastest man in the world, using a walker, it’s deliciously – split-pea soup deliciously, I might add – hilarious and takes me back, back to the days that you drew SuperFogeys. I loved your style too, man, and like seeing it again every now and then. Which isn’t to say that I wouldn’t mind seeing it more often.
Hey, something was keeping me coming back and reading SuperFogeys, and it wasn’t just the story and jokes alone.
Thanks, man! I can’t draw half the stuff Marc does, but I like to think I sometimes did all right by the characters. And you never know when I’ll get the itch to draw them again…
Nothing wrong with taking a break from the norm every now and then (even if it is forced). When I see your art, I feel the essence of SF. When I see Marc’s art, I feel the excitement of reading a new chapter, which is basically what happened when he came on. Awesome page!
Thanks! It’s funny because Marc’s style just seems so SF to me now. I look at mine and I think, yeesh, who let that guy draw the strip? Still, I know what you mean about “essence.” I did 300 strips!
I have to admit I do like Swifty’s old costume. If nothing else, it takes him away from looking too much like DC’s Flash. Mind you, until the recent changes, weren’t there two or three Flashes with almost identical costumes? Like the DCU wasn’t getting confusing enough as it was…
Man, I could go on for days about how DC has screwed up the Flash–starting with bringing back Barry Allen and getting rid of Wally West. Barry has never been anything but boring to me. But Wally? Man, I loved that guy. He’s MY Flash.
I like split pea soup too.
I THOUGHT I was seeing “original Brock” on this strip. Looks just fine.
